A.D. 284-305 | Diocletian introduses fundamental administrative reforms.The Roman state is divided into an eastern and a western pert, each ruled by an emperor and a caesar.

| A.D. 318 | The Diocese of Macedonia is founded,which includes the provinces of Macedonia,Old and New Epirus, Thessaly, Achaea, and Crete.
| A.D. 322/3 | Constantine the Great constructs the harbour of Thessaloniki.
| A.D. 380 | The Goths invade Macedonia again.
| A.D. 390 | Slaughter in the Hippodrome of Thessaloniki.
| A.D. 395 | Alaric's Visigoths invade Macedonia. The Roman state is finally and conclusively divided into eastern and western halves.
